This is a test run. Doug has created a blog for me.
We saw an excellent film on Friday night which I highly recommend– “The King’s Speech”. The title is a double entendre in that it refers both to a specific speech the King (George VI of England) gives at the end of the film (he attempts to give one at the beginning of the film also) as well as his halting stammering speech. The film is based on reality and centers on him and his speech pathologist who ultimately not only cures him but becomes his friend. The 2 main performers (Colin Firth as the King and Geoffrey Rush as the doctor) are excellent. In fact, I really disliked Geoffrey Rush prior to this film. Helena Bonham Carter as the King’s wife is also very good.
