Dear Readers,
This is our last day in Italy. Our initial plan was to go home the way we came, i.e., fly from Perugia to NY via London. But several weeks ago we were informed that our flight from Perugia had been moved from the morning to the evening which meant we would have to sleep in London. We didn’t want to do that. So we decided to take a train from Perugia to Rome and sleep there before flying home the next day. While in Umbria, we were told that our train was leaving 30 minutes later and arriving an hour later. We decided to drive to Rome instead. This, of course, required changing where we were dropping the car off. Marty took care of it. He also cancelled the train. It’s good to have your own personal travel agent! (And he’s lucky to have his own personal tour guide and concierge. I guess we make a good team after 55 years of marriage!)
Our ride to Rome was uneventful and, I’m happy to report, that we had no issues getting on or off the autostrada!
Once we got to Rome, it was time for lunch.

And since we now had several hours before dinner, we could go to a museum! I looked online and found a Dali exhibit. When we got there, it turned out that there was also a photography exhibit about Frieda Kahlo (even better).
The Frieda Kahlo exhibit consisted of photos of her taken by Nicholas Murray (one of her lovers).

Yes, apparently he took pictures of Frida with Diego Rivera (her husband) as well.
The exhibit did include one of Frieda’s own self portraits.

The Dali exhibit started with some works by other Surrealists.

I wasn’t crazy about any of the Dali paintings. This was my favorite.

If you are a fan of Salvador Dali, you need to go to his museum in St. Petersburg, Florida. It’s a fabulous museum.
I am sure you’ve guessed that once I knew we would be in Rome overnight, I found a Michelin starred restaurant here. (For our 40th anniversary we had dinner at a 3 star Michelin restaurant in Rome. I don’t recall specifics, but do remember it was fabulous with a view of all of Rome. It was on top of one of the 7 hills here.)
Our last supper (I couldn’t resist; sorry) on this trip was at Idylio. It was an amazing meal. Every dish was unique and delicious. I think it should have 2 Michelin stars, not one. It was the perfect ending to this fun trip.
Here are a few of the dishes.

And here we are.

Thanks for traveling with me. I enjoyed taking you along. The next Haber Report will be from Scotland in September. See you then.
❤️
